GIRLS GAME SCHEDULE

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of five games throughout the weekend. On Saturday, teams will participate in at least three pool play games. Divisions will then be ranked Saturday evening, with teams advancing to either playoff brackets or challenge match games. Each team will play a minimum of two games on Sunday.

In cases where a division has an uneven number of teams, a team may play an additional game on Saturday. These instances will be marked with an asterisk (*) on the tournament schedule.

BOYS GAME SCHEDULE

Pool Play / Challenge Match Game Format

  • 21-minute running halves with a 3 minute running halftime
  • No timeouts.
  • No overtime.
  • A central horn regulates time for all pool-play & consolation games
  • 2024 NFHS rules with the modifications below
  • During stopped play for an injury, time will remain running

Playoff Game Format

  • 21-minute running halves with a 3 minute running halftime.
  • Game time is kept by referees on the field.
  • One 1 minute timeout is allotted per team in regulation. The clock will stop
  • The timeout does NOT roll over to OT. No timeouts allowed in OT.
  • Timeout can be called when the team calling the timeout is in possession of the ball, anywhere on the field or any dead ball (NFHS).
  • The clock will stop on each whistle during the last 2 minutes of each half
    • Unless a team has a lead of 10 or more goals, then the clock remains a running clock.  If the score changes to less than a 10-goal differential during the final 2 minutes of each half, the clock is then a stop clock.
  •  If an injury occurs:
    • With 2 minutes or less remaining, the clock will stop with the injury.
    • With more 2 minutes or more remaining, up to 1:00 minute will be deducted from the clock to assess the injury before the clock is stopped.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of a playoff game:
    • There will be a 1-minute rest period followed by Sudden Victory Overtime. First team to score wins.
    • Teams will defend the same goal they defended in the first half.
    • Overtime will have a running clock on all whistles. 

Scoring Policy

  • A field marshal is assigned to each field to keep score. Coaches of both teams are to confirm the score at halftime and again at the conclusion of the game. Each coach will sign the scorecard at the conclusion of the game. Once the scorecard is signed by the coach, no disputes can be made. Once confirmed, the field marshal is responsible for reporting scores to the site headquarters.
  • All scoring issues / disputes must be addressed on the field during or immediately following the game (before the scorecard is signed). The Tournament Director / Official may be requested by a coach to the field as needed via the field marshal.

Rule Specifications

  • HS Divisions: 2024 NFHS Rules Apply
    • Full Checking in HS Divisions (2025-2028)
  • 29/30/31/32 divisions: 2024 US Lacrosse rules
  • Free movement will apply to all ages
  • If a horn sounds at the end of time and a free position is being awarded in the Critical Scoring Area, the game will continue until the scoring play is over.  The free position shot will be awarded as one shot, with no passes, and no follow-up shots.

Clock

  • The clock will stop on each whistle during the last 2 minutes of each half (playoff games only)
  • If at 2 minutes or under time either half of the game and a team has a lead of 10 goals more, then the game clock will remain a running clock. If the score changes to less than a 10-goal differential at any point during the final 2 minutes of either half, the clock goes back to stop clock.

Card Policy

  • If a player receives 2 yellow cards in one game, the player must sit out for the remainder of that game, but may play the next game
  • If a player receives a straight red card, the player must sit out for the remainder of that game. Officials and Tournament Director will determine if the player is allowed to play in remaining games.
  • If a team accumulates 4 or more cards in a single game they have to play a player down for the remainder of the game.
  • Officials have the right to eject any player, coach or spectator from the field when deemed necessary.

2033 – 8v8

  • Modified Field
  • 8v8 including a goalie
  • 4’x4’ goal
  • During draws, players line up in both offensive and defensive end, a traditional line-up
  • Midfield retaining line
  • After a goal, a draw will be taken
  • No checking and 3 seconds closely guarded applies
  • Must play 1v1 defense. Only exception is inside the 8 meter during a crash
  • There is a one-attempted pass rule. This can come from the goalie if the attempted pass is
  • initiated when the goalie is outside of the crease
  • (5) goal mercy rule. If the team that is down chooses to accept, they will start with the ball at the midline

2024 NFHS Rules

  • Stick checks will not be conducted unless officials suspect a stick is significantly non-compliant
  • 4 pole maximum on the field
  • Counts
    • 30 seconds to advance the ball into the box
    • 2025–2032 Grad Years:  Clearing Counts
    • 2033 and younger:.  No Counts. Exception is a 4-second goalie count
  • Checking
    • 2029–2032 Grad Years: Limited body checking. Big hits & physical play (even within three yards of a loose ball) constitute unnecessary roughness (90 sec penalty)
    • 2033 and younger: One-handed stick checks are not allowed in any youth divisions.
  • Penalties
    • Penalties are running time starting on the whistle (45 or 90 seconds)  Penalty time stops during injuries, end of quarters, and while another penalty is being assessed.
  • Mercy Rule
    • 2033 and younger: Applied when there is a (5) goal deficit in pool play.  Teams down by 5 or more goals will get a free clear after each goal.  Coaches can agree to waive this rule.
  • Officials have the right to eject any player, coach or spectator from the field when deemed necessary.

POOL PLAY SCORING

Point Rankings

  • Win = 3 points
  • Loss = 0 points
  • Tie = 1 point
    • If a team needs to play a 4th pool game in order to give a second team their 3rd game:
      • The 4th game will be identified and acknowledged with a ‘*’ on Tourney Machine
      • The 4th game will not count for any potential points or Goals Against for the team playing their 4th game
      • For the team playing their 3rd game, the results will count for points and goals against
      • In the event that there is a tiebreaker scenario, which includes a teams head to head being their fourth game, that has been identified with ‘*’ the head-to-head will NOT be applied.
    • In the event, a team is declared a winner due to forfeit
      • For ranking purposes, the goals against average for the pool play games will be the average of the games that were completed
        • Team A wins, 10-8 and 12-8, and then forfeit is 1-0.  Their average of 8 GA will be used to rank.

Tie Breakers

  • If 2 teams are tied with points:
    1. Head to Head
    2. Goals Against Total
    3. Goals Against Common Opponent.  If multiple common opponents, take the sum.
  • If 3 teams or more are tied with points:
    1. If 1 team beats the other 2 teams – that team will advance and the second 2 will fall back into tiebreaker rules
    2. Goals Against Total
    3. Goals Against Common Opponent (only used if all teams played a common opponent.  If multiple common opponents, take the sum)
    4. Coin Toss
      • If a team is still tied after these tie-breakers and is eligible for the championship playoff bracket, a coin toss will be used to determine who advances.
