SAND STORM 2021 OFFICIALLY CANCELED
11/16/20 ~ The tough decision to cancel Sand Storm 2021 has been made.
Neither the State of California or Riverside County currently allow tournament play and unfortunately, it does not appear likely that any new return-to-play guidance will be offered by January. Like other CA tournament operators, we entertained relocating to another State however there aren’t many venues large enough to accommodate registered teams, let alone over a holiday weekend already saturated with other rescheduled events. We also don’t feel we could deliver the same quality experience by splitting the event among multiple, less appealing sites. More concerning though is the rising surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations as winter approaches, resulting in states across the US issuing new restrictions, travel advisories and warnings. Last Friday the Governors of California, Oregon and Washington issued a joint coronavirus travel advisory asking residents to avoid non-essential out-of-state travel and urging people arriving to their states to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Under the circumstances, we’ve had to re-think hosting this destination event in January – in California or any other state – and it no longer seems to be a viable, safe or responsible option.
While this is a devastating decision, our business has always been run with integrity and transparency and we feel this is the right call, right now, allowing you to make informed decisions for your teams. With all the current uncertainty there’s no point in wasting your time and money by delaying a decision or attempting to reschedule in the short run ~ you’ve dealt with plenty of that already! We will live to fight another day and celebrate Sand Storm’s return in 2022!
Per refund policy, registered teams will receive a refund of $325/team ($400 paid deposit less $75 non-refundable venue fee; credit card fees excluded). Teams may choose from the following options:
TRANSFER 2021 Deposit to Sand Storm 2022: $325/team applied to cover 2022 deposit in full
- Secures your spot for 2022
- Pay no additional deposit in 2022 to recoup $75 deposit & CC fees lost in 2021
- 1 VIP parking spot/per team transferred to 2022
- Discounted rates on Friday practice fields in 2022
REFUND 2021 Deposit: $325/team refunded via original method of payment

HOTELS: If rooms were secured through Halpern Travel, please note that they will manage the cancelations of Club room blocks and individually reserved rooms with hotels directly to ensure no cancelation fees are charged. You do not need to do anything! Halpern Travel will email confirmation of cancelation and offer assistance if you wish to transfer your Club room block to 2022.
